ADVERSE EFFECTS OF HYPERTENSION OR RAISED BLOOD PRESSURE

The adverse effects of hypertension or raised blood pressure are compounded because many people affected also have other risk factors such as:

Heart Attack
Stroke
Kidney failure
Tobaco use(it increase the risk of complications among those with hypertension)
Obesity
High cholesterol with 39% in adults over 25years-WHO
Diabetes mellitus-10% in adults over 25years -WHO
Unhealthy diet
Harmful use of alcohol
Physical inactivity


If appropriate action or steps are not taken, death due to to these factors are projected to rise further. And not addressing hypertension or raised blood pressure in a timely fashion will have a significant economic and social impact.
